When does the 2026 season begin?

The first week of on field practices will be the week of April 6th, with our Opening Day Parade
on Saturday, April 11th at noon
. The season ends on Saturday, June 20th with our End of Season BBQ.

What Equipment Do I need for my Player?

Equipment varies by division but it is expected that each player has a glove, bat and helmet. Please
visit the Coach & Parent Resources tab for more information by division.

Can I request teammates and/or coaches?

Teammate and/or coach requests are primarily only done at the Tee Ball level, with special
circumstances made at the minors level. One of our goals as an organization is to introduce
players to new friends in the community that they normally might not have the opportunity to meet.
Believe it or not, kids also enjoy playing against their friends

How long are practices and where do they take place?

Practices are typically 60-90 minutes. Softball practices at Veterans park, baseball practices

at Ryder and Nelson park and Tee-Ball practices at Roosevelt School. Information regarding each team will be sent out by the coach

When will we find out what team our child is on and the game schedule?

Teams and game schedule information should go out roughly one week after registration closes.

Who should I contact if I have any qu
estions, comments or concerns about my child
during the rec season?

All questions, comments or concerns should first be brought to the attention of the team coach.
If the matter needs to be addressed further the baseball and/or softball coordinator will be contacted,
followed by the league President.

What happens if there is inclement weather on a practice or game day?

Field closures due to rain, poor weather or wet field conditions are made by the Town, Village
and Recreation Department. As soon as a call is made by those entities all coaches will be made
aware. In cases like Tee-Ball when the fields might still be open but with a drizzle the decision
will
be made by the coach.

Are there assessments in baseball and softball?

Yes! We will be holding assessments for the intermediate and majors divisions in both baseball
and softball. Players will be assessed in the areas of hitting, fielding and pitching. They are not
tryouts, but rather our way of making sure that the teams are balanced.

I can't commit to being a full time coach but can help whenever I'm around, do I still need to sign up?

Yes! Regardless of if you are planning to coach a team full time or just help out during the game
when you can attend you need to sign up and take the required trainings. Links to the required trainings
can be found under our Coach & Parent Resources page. It is required that all coaches and assistant
coaches submit a Background Check provided by our Safety Coordinator.

What if I feel like my child should move up or down a division?

Play up, and play down requests must go through our Player Agent. They will determine what
division is most appropriate for your child.

What is the difference between "Rec" and "Travel"?

In our rec season the focus is on development with as close to equal playing time for players
as possible. Travel Baseball and Softball is our more competitive program that takes place outside
of rec. Tryouts are held, usually in the summer, before the Fall season begins. Each travel team runs
as an individual unit under the umbrella of JCYS. Rec fees go to the entire JCYS organization, while
travel fees apply only to one team. Questions or comments regarding the travel season should be
directed to our Travel Committee Co-Chairs.

How will coaches be communicating with parents?

Coaches and parents/care givers should be using GameChanger as the primarily means of
communication during the rec season. The app should be downloaded before the start of the season.
The free version is sufficient enough
.

Who can I reach out to regarding any questions that weren't ask here?
